Mappa Secures $3.4M to Transform Hiring with AI Vocal Mapping
Mappa, a voice-AI hiring platform, has raised $3.4 million in an oversubscribed seed round. Draper Associates led the funding, joined by Serac Ventures, Riverwalk Capital, Sher Ventures, Seagrass, Angel Squad, Grão VC, SoGal Ventures, The Pitch, and AngelHub México.
The company uses AI-powered vocal mapping to help organizations assess candidates’ cultural fit, communication style, and decision-making skills. In less than one minute, Mappa analyzes over 30 vocal biomarkers. These include speech rate, pause frequency, and verb or noun usage. The system delivers predictive insights into how candidates perform under pressure, handle conflict, and demonstrate ownership.
“We’re entering an era where behavior is measurable, and that transforms hiring,” said Sarah Lucena, CEO of Mappa. She explained that traditional hiring methods often carry bias and overlook how candidates act in high-stakes situations. “Mappa makes invisible signals visible, helping companies make faster and more accurate talent decisions,” she added.
Key Features Driving Adoption
Mappa differentiates itself with advanced features:
- Behavioral decoding in under 60 seconds with 100,000+ vocal data points
- A proprietary 12-layer AI stack for multidimensional candidate profiling
- Action-oriented language analysis to gauge initiative and accountability
- Two-sided profiling for candidates and companies to ensure alignment
“Resumés show what someone has done. Mappa shows how they will perform,” said Tim Draper, Founding Partner at Draper Associates. He highlighted that Mappa’s behavioral data helps companies identify talent, strengthen teams, and find future leaders.
Real-World Impact
Mappa already supports enterprise hiring decisions at scale. Its API-first design integrates with existing HR systems, embedding behavioral intelligence into every stage of recruitment.
