ING appoints Hilde Garssen to the Management Board Banking

Hilde Garssen has been appointed by ING as the new Chief Human Resources Officer. Of the firm to the position of Management Board Banking. This will take effect from 1 September 2026. Hilde Garssen is currently the Chief People Officer at KPN. She will be succeeding Ruth McGill who resigned from her position in November 2025. Isaac Vitini has been acting in the capacity since then. Moreover, ING has added the CHRO role to the board to enhance HR leadership. This shows how vital people and culture are in today’s world. ING is looking forward to growth and delivering value.

Strengthening HR Leadership in a Digital Era

Garssen has more than 25 years of experience in the banking sector and telecoms sectors. Garssen worked as a Senior HR Officer in ABN AMRO and KPN. In KPN, she held the position of Head of HR Strategy in 2018. She was also part of the Management Board in 2019. Moreover, ING is evolving within a highly digitalized era. Therefore, strong HR leadership remains essential for managing workforce changes and customer expectations.
