Cencora Announces Samantha Hammock as Chief Human Resources Officer

Cencora will appoint Samantha Hammock as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, effective July 13, 2026. As such, the executive appointment represents an important phase for the company. Additionally, Hammock will manage Cencora’s human resources globally.

Hammock succeeds Silvana Battaglia, who announced that she was retiring after serving Cencora for seven years. In particular, during her tenure, she contributed towards developing the company’s culture and workforce programs. Moreover, she played an integral part in helping the organization grow throughout its operations.

Battaglia will assume a special advisor role effective July 13, 2026. Moreover, she will continue working with Hammock until the end of the year to ensure a seamless leadership transition.

Cencora Strengthens HR Leadership with Samantha Hammock Appointment 

“During her seven years of leadership, Silvana has made critical, lasting contributions to Cencora during a time of significant growth,” said Robert P. Mauch, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cencora. “Her global vision strengthened our culture and championed meaningful progress in how we invest in and care for our team members. We wish her all the best in her retirement.”

As part of her role, Hammock will be reporting to CEO Bob Mauch. In addition, she will be part of the enterprise leadership team at Cencora. Her duties include driving Cencora’s global human resources strategy.

Prior to Cencora, Hammock worked as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Verizon Communications. In addition, she held various human resource executive roles at American Express. In particular, she served as Head of Global Talent and Learning at the company.
