Acadia Pharmaceuticals announced the appointment of Carl Segerstrom as Acadia’s Chief People Officer, effective July 6. The Acadia Chief People Officer appointment is significant as far as Acadia’s next phase of growth is concerned. Further, the Acadia Chief People Officer appointment has added strength to its global approach.
Carl Segerstrom will lead global people & culture initiatives. In addition to that, he will be joining the company’s executive leadership team. The scope of his work will include talent management and organizational excellence.

Carl Segerstrom Brings Extensive Biopharma HR Experience
He has more than 25 years of experience in global human resource management. Moreover, he has vast experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. He spent 17 years in leadership positions at Merck.
Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Merck’s Human Health Division. Here, he worked to manage a global business spanning across 80 nations. Additionally, he oversaw talent strategy and workforce transformation.
Before that, he worked in various capacities in Pharmacia, Schering-Plough, and Pfizer. Besides that, he had hands-on experience in large-scale staffing initiatives. His professional experience also included HR transformation with digital and AI technologies. Carl is a Master’s graduate from Uppsala University. He has also attended various executive courses in Harvard Business School and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
