Lavalier now helps hiring teams measure company values during interviews. Textio launched the feature for its AI-powered structured interview platform, Lavalier.
The new capability lets companies define their key values and competencies. Hiring teams can then measure how candidates demonstrate those values during interviews.
In the past, organizations used to evaluate the culture fit using personal observations after the interviews. Today, Lavalier uses insights gained from the responses and behaviors of the candidates. In this way, the hiring team is able to make the culture fit part of the decision criteria.
“Company values alignment or ‘culture fit’ has historically been one of the hardest parts of hiring to get right, because it’s rife with bias and impossible to measure. Throughout the 2010s, our response to this was to hire people who were ‘culture adds,’ which did nothing more than re-brand the measurement problem,” said Colleen Gallagher, CEO of Textio. “The reality is every organization has values that matter to them and it’s important their teams embody these values. Whatever those values are, the way you mitigate bias is by defining what matters and measuring it effectively across every candidate. Lavalier is the first interview platform to bring evidence-based measurement to company values and culture-fit.”
Platform Supports Consistent Values Assessment
This new function is based on the evidence-based approach that Lavalier uses for structured interviews. The platform provides evidence rather than making hiring decisions. Organizations can configure the platform according to their values and competencies. Values will be role-agnostic and used in all interviews. Hence, interview panels will be able to measure all candidates using the same criteria.
Between discussions, the platform offers a unique perspective on the gathered data. The perspective outlines where the candidates illustrated the values of the company. It highlights areas with less data. The perspective also reveals values that were not discussed in the interview. It is left to the hiring team to determine the impact of this data on the decision process.
This aspect allows for a uniform assessment process across all open positions as well. The company sets its values once in the platform’s operating system. The system then surfaces relevant questions during interviews across all open requisitions.
