A new EisnerAmper report shows that only 22% of workers say employers monitor their AI usage at work. The findings highlight the need for clear policies as AI adoption increases across workplaces. Although 80% of employees report positive AI experiences, only 36% said their employer has a formal AI policy. Meanwhile, 28% admitted they would still use AI even if banned. Jen Clark, director of technology enablement at EisnerAmper, noted a communication gap. She explained that employers now have a chance to establish and communicate AI strategies more effectively.

Mixed Worker Confidence in AI Tools

The survey included more than 1,000 U.S. workers with a bachelor’s degree or higher. Among them, 68% regularly find mistakes in AI tools. However, 82% remain confident in receiving accurate and useful responses. Most employees also said AI saves them time. While 64% use that time for work tasks, others spend it on personal breaks, such as walking or lunch.

Demand for Recognition of AI Experience

As AI adoption grows, 74% of employees believe AI job experience deserves compensation. Mary Rizzuti, practice lead at EisnerAmper, emphasized the importance of HR support. She urged HR leaders to provide training, tools, and policies for responsible AI integration.

Notably, wholesale trade leads AI use in HR with 33% adoption. Restaurants, travel, and lodging follow at 25%. Only 20% reported AI being used in their onboarding process. However, 92% of those employees said AI improved their perception of the company. Performance reviews show mixed results. About one-third view AI’s role positively, while another third sees a negative impact.
