A Resume Now report revealed that 66% of workers believe AI leaders could improve workplace fairness and efficiency. The survey, conducted in August, highlights growing openness toward AI-led management in U.S. workplaces.

At the same time, 73% of employees said they support AI in hiring, firing, and budgeting decisions. However, 62% still prefer reporting to human managers, while only 34% said they would rather report to AI leaders.

Resume Now career expert Keith Spencer noted the cautious optimism. He explained that employees see value in AI improving fairness and decision-making. Yet, they still want managers they can trust, especially for guidance, conflict resolution, and career growth.

Balancing AI and Human Leadership

Other studies show a similar trend. A CalypsoAI survey found that 45% of workers trust AI more than co-workers, while 38% prefer AI managers over humans.

Resume Now surveyed more than 900 U.S. workers. Of them, 85% said AI transparency would increase trust in employers. More than half also believed AI could make fairer promotion decisions, set unbiased performance goals, and provide neutral feedback.

Nevertheless, employees continue to value human strengths. 64% said only humans can motivate teams, and more than half stressed that only people can handle emotions or morally complex decisions. Meanwhile, 39% worry AI leaders could misuse data, and 29% fear AI-led workplaces might become impersonal and stressful.

Spencer emphasized that employees do not want a fully automated workplace. Instead, they want thoughtful integration. He added that while AI can streamline operations and promote fairness, it should complement, not replace, human leadership. The future of management, he noted, will combine AI tools with the empathy and skills of human leaders.
