Nelson became Managing Partner of Dorsey on July 1, 2025. He joined the firm in 2008 as a banking industry attorney in the Minneapolis office. Earlier, he practiced law in Houston before relocating to Minnesota. Over the years, he held several leadership roles, including co-lead of the Finance and Restructuring Group and Banking & Financial Institutions Industry Group. He also served on the Firm’s Policy Committee.
Under his leadership, Dorsey expanded its footprint and opened a Chicago office on November 3, 2025. The move strengthened the firm’s national presence and created more opportunities for its client portfolio.
