UKG Converts Workforce Intelligence Into Action With New AI for the Frontline

Intelligence

UKG has introduced new AI-powered workforce management capabilities to help organizations address staffing gaps, improve employee support, and identify payroll errors. The company aims to help chief human resources officers (CHROs) turn workforce intelligence into practical action.

Innovations by UKG, an AI-first Workforce Operating Platform for HR, Payroll, and Workforce Management, were announced before the start of the HR Tech 2026 event. The innovations are specifically aimed at solving issues faced on the frontline.

Businesses have used HR technology for tracking data about their workforce for many years. But companies today require technology that will assist them in acting upon the data. UKG is focused on decreasing the amount of administration, helping managers, and enabling frontline employees to perform their tasks.

“Every hour spent chasing staffing gaps, navigating processes, or fixing pay errors is time taken away from serving customers and supporting employees,” said Gretchen Alarcon, SVP and General Manager of HCM and Pay at UKG. “We’re giving businesses that time back, helping CHROs turn workforce intelligence into action so the frontline performs at its best.”

AI Capabilities Target Key Workforce Challenges

The new workforce intelligence and agentic AI capabilities of UKG have been designed around three key operational considerations. For one thing, it can assist companies in identifying staffing shortages early. It also assists in decisions regarding hiring, redeployment, or retraining of staff members.

Secondly, the platform enables frontline staff to have access to information and assistance more quickly. Therefore, the staff members can save time dealing with HR-related issues and be more productive.

Third, the system detects irregular payroll outcomes, provides explanations for the problem, and suggests corrections. Then, the suggestions can be evaluated by payroll experts before payday.

Additionally, UKG plans to integrate these capabilities with existing AI tools used by employees and managers. Its extensible AI approach offers greater flexibility while helping businesses retain control over workforce decisions.

“UKG empowers us with real-time insight into what’s happening across our workforce, so we can make smarter, faster decisions,” said Martin Schmuckler, CHRO at Enhance Therapies. “We’re constantly looking at trends and using that data to figure out where we can improve. At the same time, employees can easily find what they need, and our teams can focus on supporting them and running the business effectively. Having a partner that responds and works with us makes a real difference.”

He explained that workforce trends help the organization identify improvement opportunities. Meanwhile, employees can find information more easily, allowing teams to focus on business operations and employee support.

“The biggest risk in enterprise AI isn’t moving too slowly. It’s investing in technology that never changes how work gets done,” said Stacia Garr, co-founder and principal analyst at RedThread Research. “Organizations no longer have to settle for technology that simply helps them understand their workforce. With the right partner, they can start solving workforce challenges today, especially on the frontline, where better decisions can make an immediate difference.”

She noted that organizations can now move beyond workforce analysis toward solving operational challenges, particularly across frontline teams.

UKG Expands Its Workforce Technology Position

UKG claims that over 80,000 organizations with over 65 million people in 150 countries benefit from their products. It has been designated as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for HCM Suites and Workforce Management 2026.

By utilizing its capabilities in human capital management, workforce management, and front-line knowledge, UKG is constantly evolving new technologies that link workforce intelligence with business decision-making.
