Mike Heuer will serve as the new Chief Information Officer of Quantum Corporation (Nasdaq: QMCO). The new CIO at Quantum is effective immediately. He will head the IT team for Quantum globally. Some of his job duties will encompass enterprise applications, data, AI adoption, infrastructure, and cybersecurity. The organization hopes that his expertise in technology will contribute towards its strategic objectives.
“Mike has a proven ability to align technology strategy with business objectives and drive transformation at scale,” said Hugues Meyrath, President and Chief Executive Officer of Quantum. “His experience building high-performing IT organizations that enhance internal workflows and elevate customer experiences will be invaluable as we continue executing on our strategic priorities and further position Quantum for long-term success.”
Heuer was most recently Chief Information Officer of Legence, a Blackstone Group company. In this role, he developed the IT capabilities of the firm and helped drive its expansion through over 20 acquisitions. Prior to that, he was the Head of Global Information Technology at Blackhawk Network. He drove implementations of enterprise ERP and CRM systems across North America, Europe, and Asia.
Before that, Heuer held a series of technology executive roles at companies including Peet’s Coffee, Blue Shield of California, and Applied Materials. His experience included enterprise application, infrastructure, and digital transformation. He started out his career in Accenture’s artificial intelligence consulting group. Heuer received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Northwestern University. He is also a board member of Felidae Conservation Fund.
The new Quantum CIO said the company’s digital ambitions attracted him to the role. “What attracted me to Quantum is the opportunity to help accelerate the Company’s digital initiatives through advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence,” said Heuer. “Throughout my career, I’ve focused on building scalable technology innovations that enable improved decision-making, expanded operational efficiencies, and strengthened financial performance. I look forward to partnering across the organization to advance Quantum’s technology strategies in alignment with the Company’s long-term business goals.” In the meantime, Quantum’s Leadership and Compensation Committee authorized an inducement grant to Heuer.
The grant contains 50,000 restricted stock units as part of his compensation. The units shall vest in equal installments annually for three years. The inducement grant is subject to Heuer’s continued service with Quantum. The grant is scheduled to be effective on or about October 1, 2026. The grant will be made under Quantum’s 2021 Inducement Plan.
The Quantum CIO appointment enhances the technological emphasis at Quantum. Also, it brings AI, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity into dedicated executive purview.
